Galatians 5:16

Galatians 5:16 I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don't do what you want.

Our church is poised on the brink of a mighty revival. We have visitors almost every service, our numbers are growing and we can feel the momentum building. Of course, satan knows this as well and our members are under intense attack.

Our pastor is trying to teach us to walk in the Spirit. Most of us say "I can't pray while I'm struggling with this ___________" "Let me get a handle on this issue and then I'll start to fast." However, Paul says walk in the Spirit first so that you don't do these other things that are bringing you down.

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.

We approach the throne of grace first. Jesus knows what we are struggling with. If we confess our sin, He is just and faithful to forgive that sin. (1John 1:9) The secret lies in being honest with ourselves, truly facing the sin for what it is and then asking Jesus for help. 1 Cor 10:13 says we will never be tempted beyond what we can bear. That God will always provide a way of escape. We often just choose not to take it.

Sincerely,

Deborah
