Pain & Suffering

In order to even begin to understand that God is in control of our lives we must realize that God’s ways and God’s thoughts are not like ours.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isaiah 55:8
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 5:11

I believe a huge part of the purpose of His Word is to enable us to see our lives through God’s eyes from God’s perspective instead of through our eyes or the clouded perspective of the world.

There are so many things in this world that are difficult to understand, explain, situations, troubles, seemingly random things come our way for which we look for reasons and for answers. I am certain no one could explain why Noah was building an ark when rain was totally out of the picture. However, it is during these times we must look to God and His word and not make up what we believe to be His purpose. We need to seek Him in all things and seek His purpose in all things. We can come to have peace in knowing His ways and thoughts are not our ways and thoughts and His will for our lives is far better than what we believe to be best.

True peace came into my life when God spoke to my heart and told me, He was in control of my life. To understand that is to understand our freedom in Christ. I think we have become so sin conscious of ourselves and others we cannot possibly live in the Freedom of Christ. Because of being so sin conscious we cannot possibly love ourselves and others. We are too busy with just that, that we forget what is really important..that Christ died on the cross for our sin. We are new creatures.

Let’s take a look at Job: Job’s entire family was killed except for his wife. Job had boils from the crown of his head to the souls of his feet. Job’s friends for hours told him to repent because they believed Job was being punished for sin. If you read Job you will see his sin was not counted against him. Although we have the luxury of seeing the entire thing between God and satan, Job did not. However, Job knew all of this was from God. Job 2:10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Job knew who was in control. He didn’t blame satan because satan was not in control of Job. Every example in the Word from the life of Paul to Joseph the son of Jacob to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself can only be explained by God’s sovereign purpose.

If we know and trust God, if we seek His face and believe what He says about us, as Christians, is true, than we are His child, that Christ paid the price for our sins completely and that we possess, already, eternal life.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.)

My prayer for us is that we would take advantage of the examples God has given us to see our lives through His eyes and not our own. To build up our faith with the precious Word He has given us and that we would put any preaching, advice, circumstance to the test of the pure Word of God.

With much love,
Max and Tammy
