Oh the Joy of Childhood!

My 5 year old son, Ryan, has this kind of uncanny knack for finding change laying around, where ever we may be...grocery store, out for lunch, school, you name it. Recently he decided to get the flashlight and look under the couch. This was not a new event, he looks under the couch pretty much every day, and believe it or not, he almost always comes up with some money. As he started out on his expedition this day, I thought about this. Only a child would even "think" that there would actually be money there again today, since he just looked there yesterday. I smiled to myself at the faith of a child for the unlikely to happen.

I was instantly reminded that our faith was to be like that of a child - we too should be "like children" to the Lord. Our "adult" mind constantly puts God in a box, limits His power and plagues us with doubt. Our experiences shape our world and our decisions about what will or won't happen. The truth is that our experiences don't even begin to cover the realm of possibilities with God. Children haven't had enough experiences to limit all the possibilities - anything is possible! Often our rational mind is our worst enemy. NEVER to stop seeking, regardless of what our "adult" mind might tell us. Believe that we will find what we are seeking.

Do you have God in a box, limited by your experiences?

I pray that we and can push open the box lid and let God out. I pray for childlike hope and faith for all God's children. In Jesus Name. Amen

Matthew 18:3 “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 11:25 “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise and clever, and for revealing it to the childlike."

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

Mark 9:23 “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Romans 5:5 "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
